These roles offer a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of public policy and community engagement. These positions are fully remote and offer a competitive wage for an 8-week term starting June 1, 2026.

Research Support Officer (2 Positions)
The BC Humanist Association (BCHA) is seeking two motivated and detail-oriented Research Support Officers to join our team for the summer. These roles are ideal for individuals interested in secularism, public policy, and social justice research in British Columbia.
The Role
As a Research Support Officer, you will provide critical data and analytical support for several ongoing BCHA projects. You will work closely with our staff and volunteers to uncover insights that inform our advocacy and public education efforts.
Key Projects:

Municipal Policy Research: Investigating municipal prayer practices and analyzing property tax exemption data.

Data Tabulation: Organizing complex information into clear, actionable datasets and sample policies.

Report Finalization: Helping finalize a major report on unregulated pregnancy centres, including meticulous footnoting and fact-checking.

Education Advocacy: Reviewing school district policies and websites.

Freedom of Information (FOI): Drafting, submitting, and analyzing FOI requests to provincial and local bodies.
Qualifications

Eligibility: Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee.

Skills: Strong written communication, attention to detail, and a "self-starter" mentality.

Technical: Comfortable using basic office and cloud-based software (eg Google Drive).

Communications Officer (1 Position)
The BC Humanist Association (BCHA) is looking for a creative and energetic Communications Officer to help amplify our voice and engage the secular community across British Columbia this summer.
The Role
The Communications Officer will be the engine behind our summer outreach. You will bridge the gap between our deep-dive research and our public-facing platforms, ensuring our message is punchy, engaging, and professional.
Key Responsibilities:

Campaign Planning: Developing marketing plans to launch and promote new research reports.

Content Coordination: Soliciting and organizing content for the BCHA’s new digital magazine.

Social Media Management: Creating content and driving engagement on our social platforms.

Digital Outreach: Drafting monthly newsletters and email blasts to keep our members informed.

Strategy Integration: Coordinating communication efforts with the BCHA’s broader fundraising goals.
