Following on from the Holyoake Lecture delivered in 2016 by Owen Jones, author and commentator Douglas Murray spoke on the same title, 'towards a humanist politics'. As with that lecture, Murray attempts to demonstrate how a rational, empathetic, and forward-thinking approach to ethical issues and human problems can intersect fruitfully with politics.
The Holyoake Lecture, held each year as part of the Humanists UK annual lecture series, explores political thought, especially as it relates to contemporary political and societal discourse, on secular and humanist issues, and more broadly.
