Sunday Meeting: Hans Schmid - Quiet

Hans Schmid is president of the Right to Quiet Society.

Sound versus noise, hearing versus listening: an explanation of the term "soundscape", the wide-spread lack of understanding of its meaning, and the importance of it in our daily life.

In the modern world our sense of hearing is by far not sufficiently appreciated and far too often treated as if it were a mechanical component of our body that could easily be replaced when damaged or worn out. Worse still, beyond the physical part of our hearing there are numerous non-auditory effects from exposure to sound or noise, which can have very detrimental consequences that could be reduced or prevented with better understanding and attention paid to this matter.

All are welcome to attend. Join us at 10 am for BYO coffee, tea, and socializing. At 10:30 am we start our presentation and discuss topics of interest to our members.

The BC Humanist Association was formed in 1984 and we have a regular attendance of over 30 people at our Sunday meetings.
