The BC Humanist Association does not oppose the right of religious organizations to advertise on transit property.

At Tuesday evening’s School Board Meeting in Chilliwack, members of the BC Humanist Association were disappointed to see the Chilliwack Board of Education vote unanimously in favour of Policy 518 “Distribution of Information or Materials.”

The BC Humanist Association is concerned that a policy proposed by the Chilliwack School District will lead to the distribution of religious materials in public school classrooms.

An application to perform Humanist weddings has been denied by the BC Government after nearly a year of uncertainty around the BC Humanist Association’s new Humanist Officiant Program.

The BC Humanist Association echoes the concerns expressed today by Humanist Canada and the Centre for Inquiry Canada regarding the announcement of a federal Office of Religious Freedoms within the Foreign Ministry.
