BC Humanists raise funds for Fort McMurray

By now most of us have seen the harrowing images pouring out of Northern Alberta over the past week. Tens of thousands of people were evacuated from Fort McMurray an neighbouring communities as a massive wildfire engulfed the region.

To provide an opportunity to respond, the BC Humanist Association has launched a fundraiser to support the Canadian Red Cross' relief efforts.

All money donated will go directly to the Red Cross and will help provide emergency food, clothing, shelter, personal services and other necessities.

As an added incentive, one of our donors has generously offered to match up to $5000 in donations from Humanists to the Red Cross. This will then be matched by the Government of Canada, meaning every donation is effectively quadrupled.

Please give generously to show our support for people who were forced to leave their lives behind.

If you've already donated to the Red Cross' efforts and want your donation counted toward the BCHA's matching offer, please forward a receipt to [email protected]. Let us know if you have any other questions.

The Government of Canada is matching donations until May 31. To ensure we are able to confirm our collective total for the matching donation, please make your donations before May 25.

This fundraiser is part of our Humanist Action campaign to put Humanist values into practice through charitable activities.
