Vancouver Sunday Meeting

GUEST SPEAKER: HEATHER McCAIN

- INTRODUCTION TO DISABILITY JUSTICE!

Heather McCain is Executive Director of Citizens for Accessible Neighbourhoods, a non-profit they founded in 2005. Heather’s personal experiences with multiple types of disabilities, inaccessibility, and ableism has led them to become a well-known and respected speaker, advocate, educator, and activist, working with a variety of companies, cities, and non-profits to confront the issues that face disabled people. Recognizing that the disability community is comprised of people with many intersecting identities, Heather is committed to cross-movement organizing and working to ensure that the entire disabled person is considered. Heather also facilitates Qmunity’s group Chronically Queer, a support group for queer folk who have chronic health conditions.

All are welcome to attend. Join us at 10 am for BYO coffee, tea, and socializing. At 10:30 am we start our presentation and discuss topics of interest to our members.

The BC Humanist Association was formed in 1984 and we have a regular attendance of over 30 people at our Sunday meetings.

Click here for more details on how to find the Centre. Our events are independent of the Seniors' Centre and are open to people of all ages and backgrounds.
