Christian Atheist orator, David Simpson will be speaking on Morality Without God. Many religious people assert that morality cannot be objective without God. Many atheists and skeptics (including famous philosophers like Friedrich Nietzsche) have conceded this point. There is thus an unholy alliance between fundamentalists and many secularists. David Simpson (himself a former believer and former defender of the "moral argument for the existence of God") will reveal the flaws in this argument, and seek to show that morality can be objective without invoking a supernatural realm. He will analyze different secular moral systems, including deontology and virtue ethics. He will defend a utilitarian view of morality, and examine various religious and secular objections to such an approach.
