November Meeting - Canada Divided & A shared crisis, climate

1. CANADA DIVIDED – POST FEDERAL ELECTION (Discussion Leader Bill
Fradgley)
2. A SHARED CRISIS, CLIMATE (Discussion Leader Elan Brink)

These topics come at a time when it appears Canadians, especially in Western Canada, are in more profound opposition than Canadians in the rest of Canada.

Bill Fradgley is a founder member of the CV Humanists. It is his belief that by framing difficult questions that the resulting discussion, although challenging is healthy and will assist us in forging consensus regarding our collective Canadian future. The opposite will
continue to keep Canadians divided as born out in the outcome of our recent Federal election.

Elan Brink is a Cochair of the present CV Humanists. As a Humanist, he too values a respectful discussion of ubiquitous divergent points of view. He does not shy away from difficult issues. The topic he will lead is especially difficult here in BC, considering the
almost total absence of progressive representation in Ottawa outside of Vancouver Island.

It is the hope of each presenter that all participants will gain personal insight into how we feel about each topic. Through the respectful communication of our feelings about these topics we will begin the building of a shared understanding in relation to the topics and therefore forge a better way forward in Canada.

Note re Format:
These topics will NOT be conducted in a lecture/question format. Each will take the form of a short portrayal of points of view supported by facts followed by questions posed to encourage discussion.
