Monarchy Poll

The death of Queen Elizabeth II and pending coronation of King Charles III has re-ignited debates around whether Canada should continue as a constitutional monarchy. The King is head of the Church of England (but not the Anglican Church in Canada), which is the state church of that country (but not Canada).

The BC Humanist Association does not currently have a position on the monarchy. Some might argue that Humanism's strong commitment to democracy and secularism means we should oppose continuing the monarchy. Others might argue the issue is not particularly pertinent and Canada's arrangement as a constitutional monarchy is largely secular and provides effective democratic governance.

This survey is simply to collect some feedback from our supporters on the issue. The survey does collect your name and email but we will keep individual results anonymous. Answers may inform future policies of the BCHA.
