- Proposed members’ resolution:
“As Humanists, we believe that every individual has dignity, value, and the right to personal fulfillment. As such, we condemn bigotry based on national origin, race, and personal beliefs, which interferes with individual liberty and well-being. In particular, we are deeply concerned about the string of recent attacks in Norway, Quebec City, Charlottesville, Christchurch and elsewhere that were motivated by white nationalist ideology. We wholeheartedly denounce white nationalism as anathema to Humanism and as a threat to peaceful democratic society.”
Proxies are not accepted.
Only current members may vote at the AGM. Minutes of the previous AGM and statements by candidates nominated for election will be posted on the members site.
Additional statements from current members in reference to any business at the meeting may be submitted for publication to the members site by emailing [email protected].
Up to five directors may be elected at the AGM. Any members wishing to nominate themselves to run for the board should contact the elections officer, Dan Hanna, at [email protected] no later than 7:00 PM on May 6, 2019. Candidates must have been members for at least six months prior to the date of the AGM. Read the full elections policy.
The resolution was submitted under section 7.8 of the BCHA bylaws and was signed by 14 members.
