Vancouver Sunday Meeting: Sonja Luehrmann - Religion and reproductive rights in Russia today

Sonja Luehrmann is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Simon Fraser University. She has published two books on atheism and religion in the Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia. Her current research deals with anti-abortion activism and the movement to restore "traditional family values" in the Russian Orthodox Church.

In her previous talk for us, Dr Luehrmann talked about the use of anti-religion/pro-atheist propaganda in the Soviet Union.

In this talk, Dr Luehrmann will talk about her current research on religion and anti-abortion activism in contemporary Russia.

All are welcome to attend. Join us at 10 am for BYO coffee, tea, and socializing. At 10:30 am we start our presentation and discuss topics of interest to our members.

The BC Humanist Association was formed in 1984 and we have a regular attendance of over 30 people at our Sunday meetings.
