British Columbia is one of Canada's least religious provinces. The BC Humanist Association is committed to building Humanist communities for those who share our values in cities and towns across the province. Together with our local affiliate communities, we host regular meetings across BC.

Attendees at events are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct.

    Let Peace Be Their Memorial

    Let Peace Be Their Memorial poster

    This year, the 10th annual Vancouver ‘Let Peace be Their Memorial’ ceremony will held on Tuesday November 11th at 2pm, in person at Seaforth Peace Park (Burrard and First ave). Our co-hosts this year are Vancouver Unitarians and BC Humanist Association. Volunteers will place beautiful handmade wreaths for Children, Refugees, Indigenous, Conscientious Objectors, Medical & Aid Workers, Education, Women, Post Traumatic Stress, and the Environmental devastation from war. There will be songs and anti-war poetry.

    Parking is very limited, so you are encouraged to come by transit.

    Shame-Sex Attraction Livestream

    Join us for a livestream discussion with author and researcher Dr Lucas Wilson about his new book, Shame-Sex Attraction: Survivors' Stories of Conversion Therapy.

    Bio: Dr. Lucas Wilson is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Toronto Mississauga and was formerly the Justice, Equity, and Transformation Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Calgary. He is the editor of Shame-Sex Attraction: Survivors’ Stories of Conversion Therapy and the co-editor of Emerging Trends in Third-Generation Holocaust Literature. He is also the author of At Home with the Holocaust: Postmemory, Domestic Space, and Second-Generation Holocaust Literature, which received the Jordan Schnitzer First Book Publication Award. His public-facing writing has appeared in The AdvocateQueertyLGBTQ Nation, and Religion Dispatches, among other venues. He is currently working on a new edited collection about queer experiences at Christian colleges, universities, and seminaries (under contract with University of Georgia Press).

    Join us for dinner and drinks to celebrate the Winter Solstice.

    Tickets will be released soon and will include food and beverages. Vegetarian options will be available but please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements.

    Once again, the event is being held at the Dunbar Community Centre in multipurpose room 202.

    Transit access via the number 7 bus along Dunbar St. Alternatively, the Centre is about a ten-minute walk to the 25 on King Edward Ave or the R4 Rapid Bus along W 41st Ave.

    We're looking for volunteers to help make the event happen.
