The BC Humanist Association hosts a number of regular and special meetings and lectures. All of our events our open to the public. Full details on all of our upcoming events can be found on our events calendar.
Our breakfast group meets every Sunday morning at the Oakridge Seniors' Centre in Vancouver. Our meetings begin with 30-45 minutes of socializing over free coffee and tea, followed by a presentation. We always leave time for a stimulating discussion. Past topics have included morality, science, philosophy, religion, and economics.
The meetings begin at 10 am and wrap up by noon. The Centre is located in the Southwest corner of Oakridge Mall and directions can be found here.
Our monthly book club meets at 7PM on the first Tuesday of every month at a member's home. We have featured books by authors Jodi Piccoult, Steve Pinker, Lawrence Krauss, and Christopher Hitchens. Call Kirsten at 604 269 2654 for current topics and the locations
Several times per year we host picnics, dinners, and other social events. Examples include our annual Picnic at Peace Arch Park with humanists from Washington, as well as our Winter Solstice Potluck dinner.
We host a number of special evening lectures throughout the year. Past invited speakers have included Armageddon Factor author Marci McDonald, scientist and blogger Jennifer McCreight, and journalist Ted Cox.
